Wednesday afternoon, 11-13, we climbed to the highest peak in Georgia, Brasstown Bald Mountain. (http://roadsidegeorgia.com/site/brasstown_bald.html) We had to park the car and walk up the last 1,000 feet (half-mile hike on a paved path) to reach the summit, 4,784 feet above sea level. Unfortunately, when we got there, all of the facilities were already closed for the winter. It had dropped from 54 degrees to 44 degrees as we went higher, and the wind chill factor at the summit was below freezing - and we weren't dressed for that!! We took some photos and then hurried back down to the car. We were cold, but the views were wonderful!!
On Friday we drove all the way to Oldsmar FL and will be arriving back in Punta Gorda today (11-16). So ends another wonderful summer of travel, activity, food and friends!!
